What Is Open in Phoenix for Kids After Stay At Home Order

As of October 12, 2020, most places in Phoenix are open, or have posted a reopening date! We have no yet heard reopening news from Party Jungle, Crayola Experience, or Jake’s Unlimited. Hurricane Harbor and Big Surf will remain closed for the season. Feel free to send us an e-mail with any questions or updates.


As of September 7, 2020, here is a list of what is closed in Phoenix:

  • Hurricane Harbor Waterpark
  • Big Surf Waterpark
  • Party Jungle
  • Phoenix Zoo (reopening Sept 19)
  • Children’s Museum of Phoenix
  • Pump it Up (Peoria location only)
  • Splash pads in: Goodyear, Gilbert, Peoria, and City of Phoenix
  • Jake’s Unlimited
  • IDEA Museum
  • Pioneer Living History Museum (reopening Sept 16)

All other indoor play places, trampoline parks, and activities are likely open, as are restaurants. But check social media or call before making plans. Most libraries are open for curbside pickup only. Open pools vary by city, and some only for lap swim. Call to confirm Note that masks are required in all places in Maricopa County, for ages 6 and up, with some businesses modifying this mandate as needed (i.e. while enjoying trampoline parks).


As of May 22, 2020 it appears that two thirds of activities and destinations in Phoenix are open, or have announced a reopening date. Most restaurants are open for dine in. Most libraries have curb side pick up options only. Follow businesses on social media to get updates, and be sure to check each website for any restrictions. Movie theaters can reopen on May 16, 2020. Popular Arizona movie theaters like Harkins and AMC have not yet made any specific announcements on opening. Call your local theatre for hours and any restrictions.
