Volanti at the Scottsdale Airport With Kids

Vistiting Volanti at the Scottsdale airport with kids could be a fun family outing! Volanti is a contemporary restaurant and lounge overlooking the runway and McDowell Mountains.  Ever notice a large yellow airplane hanging from the ceiling in the Scottsdale airpark? Kids will love touring this mini museum, even if you don’t stop at the restaurant. Volanti is a great spot for brunch, lunch, happy hour, dinner and plane watching.

When approaching the new building, the first thing we all noticed was a large yellow Boeing-Stearman hanging on display outside the entrance. The pre-World War II military training aircraft is part of the Thunderbird Field II Veterans’ Memorial. The memorial includes plaques and interactive digital displays with information about World War II and Scottsdale Airport’s wartime origins. More information can be found in the Scottsdale Airpark News here.

We visited Volanti for their happy hour menu. We ordered a way too much food and loved every bite! We ate meatballs, flatbread chicken pizza, tenderloin sliders, and chips with salsa and guacamole. Every bite was consumed by the four of us and I would easily go back and try the full menu.

The kids menu is available all day long except during happy hour. It was suggested to ask the kitchen for any items from the kids menu during this time. If your kids are picky eaters, happy hour time may not be the best time to visit.

While I would not label this a “kid friendly” restaurant, I would call it a “kid accommodating” restaurant. There were two high chairs available. While we were there, my kids were happily saying “bye plane” and “come back plane” and calling out colors and not super quiet. I was a little nervous about upsetting anyone that was having a relaxing happy hour on the patio but we were actually stopped by not one, not two, but three different people saying that our (2.5 year old) kids were well behaved. I would probably call ahead and let the staff know I was bringing kids if I was going with kids.
