The Learning Experience in Happy Valley is the seventh location in the Phoenix area to open, offering a nurturing early school setting for ages 6 weeks-5 years. The foundation of The Learning Experience is built on three educational principles: cognitive, physical, and social. Or, as they say at TLE – learn, play, and grow!
The Learning Experience offers five programs depending on age of the child. In each stage, the “learn, play, grow” motto is tailored to fit the needs and development of the age group:
- Stage 1: Infant (6 weeks to 1 year old)
- Stage 2: Toddler (1-2 years old)
- Stage 3: Twaddler (2 – 2 1/2 years old)
- Stage 4: Prepper (2 1/2 – 3 years old)
- Stage 5: Preschooler (3-5 years old)
- Stage 6: Kindergartener (5 years old)
What sets The Learning Experience apart from other early schools is their curriculum and daily routine. It’s more than a daycare, and yet not rigidly structured to overwhelm a child with heavy learning. Playtime is purposeful and fun! This is the focus for 6 weeks to age 2 1/2. Beyond this age, play time is definitely included, with the addition of a deeper curriculum of phonics, foreign languages and yoga, with the basics of math, science and language skills. There is also a high success rate for learning to read by kindergarten!
TLE essentially gives your child the best possible start to their first five years of life, bringing out those important social and educational developments, all while letting kids be kids.
We were able to tour the Happy Valley location a few weeks before it opened. The staff was very welcoming, letting us peek into each classroom. The nursery caught my eye first, as I’m always interested in how learning centers start with little ones. Their schedule had a nice variety, even including sign language, which I’ve found extremely helpful in early communication with my babies.
Of course, our kids loved the indoor play area! The stairs lead up to a walkway along the wall, and then end with a slide and ball pit! The outdoor area was fabulous as well, complete with a splash pad. There was lots of room for activity.
Overall, the schedule for all ages of children seemed balanced and fun, mixing in learning with play, with nurturing teachers and helpers. All food is made in their own kitchen as well! We currently homeschool, but if we were searching for other options, The Learning Experience is the type of school we’d consider.
