6 Kid-Friendly Thanksgiving Day Walks and Running Events in Phoenix. So, you’ve decided to do a little bit of exercise before enjoying tons of food this Thanksgiving. There are lots of people interested, and thus a number of events are scheduled for Thanksgiving Day. Strollers are welcome at all these events too! (Just remember to start at the end of the lineup, to be courteous to single runners.)
We’ve participated in a couple of turkey trots, and it’s been so fun. Good family time, beautiful weather, and chatting with other people while getting some exercise! Our kids have alternated between walking and riding in the stroller. Don’t shy away from bringing kids. You’ll find you’ll be in good company with other families.
Which race is best? We suggest choosing one closest to your home. Most races start around 7:30-8am, which can be early for families, not factoring in time for parking, picking up last-minute packets, and lining up for the race or walk. Brings snacks to keep little ones occupied. Some of the races also have drinks and snacks available at the finish line.
Note that prices vary depending on when you register, length of the race, and age; most races start at $35/person if you pre-register. Not sure if you want to participate? Check each race website to see if you can sign up the day of the race! All races will likely include bibs, although shirts may not be guaranteed if you register on Thanksgiving Day.
