Radical Reptile Fun is often known for their traveling petting zoo, which they bring to schools or birthday parties. However, they only bring a small selection of reptiles to these events. Scheduling a tour allowed us to see all the reptiles- and many other types of animals too!

Mike, who owns the petting zoo, lead us on the tour. He was incredibly knowledgable about the animals and willing to answer any questions from my kids. He was patient and allowed them to do as much or as little as they felt comfortable with. He offered many opportunities to interact with the animals and was very clear with his directions about how to behave around each animal to ensure safety.

We started the tour in the area with the birds. They had ducks, chickens, roosters, geese, peacocks, and turkeys. Mike showed the kids how to talk to the turkey so they could hear him gobble. My 5 yo especially loved this trick and was able to get the turkey to gobble multiple times!

Next we visited the outdoor lizards, the turtles, and the tortoises. The kids were able to feed the tortoises and walk right into the area where they lived. It was so cool to watch them bite the lettuce and my kids loved being able to touch their shells.

The highlight of the tour was the Reptile Barn. There is a variety of snakes and lizards and Mike took a few out of their cages so that my kids could hold them and touch them. He was incredibly patient with my 6 yo who wanted to hold the snake, but was nervous. There is also a 16 ft, 120 Ib anaconda. Mike pulled part of his body out of the cage so that my kids could touch him. My kids voted unanimously that this was their favorite part!

Lastly, we visited the goats, the emus, and the pig. All of the animals were incredibly friendly and were so calm as my kids pet them. Mike told them they could hug the emus, so they did! The emu even posed for my photo.

There is a small gift shop at the end of the tour. My 8 yo chose a necklace with pieces of an emu egg inside and he was so excited to show his friends!

We loved this tour so much and cannot recommend it enough. We learned so much about the animals and all the interactions kept even the wiggliest of my kids engaged.
