Ironwood Park in Scottsdale is a nice little shaded park to stop and burn some energy. And it has a small nature trail to explore!
Playground
This sand playground has a toddler play structure and big kid play structure next to each other, making it easy to keep and eye on kids of all ages. There were two toddler and two big kid swings, as well as a ride on horse. I liked the little details like the “monster” with eye balls and a tongue that is a tunnel to crawl through. Another plus is that the play structures are fully shaded, and the surrounding wall makes it easy for parents to sit and watch kids play.

Picnic
There is one shaded ramada located directly next to the playground. Perfect for getting some work done while kids play, or stopping for snacks. There is also a picnic area by the basketball courts with some trees to provide shade. Also, the short wall surrounding the playground could easily turn into a quick spot for kids to stop and get a snack and hydrate.
Park
This 4 acre park in Scottsdale features a playground, lighted tennis court, lighted basketball court, one shaded ramamda, picnic table, short hiking trail, some grass and restrooms. The day we visited, there was also a dog takeover, and all the mess that comes with the dogs. If you are planning on having a catered event, inflatables or any specialty item they ask that you call the facility in advance to verify the company’s insurance information.

This little trail was a fun surprise. It would be perfect for kids just learning to walk on uneven ground, looking for animals, exploring nature yet you could still push a stroller or wagon if needed. It’s only a 5 minute loop, but it’s a nice bonus. We used it to get the kids off the playground, looking for animals and then ending by the parking lot to go home.
