I think I’ve been living under a rock! I just discovered Howie’s Game Shack in Mesa and had to share it with you! This is easily one of the best looking gaming centers in the valley, and quite affordable. You can rent an X-Box or PC for gaming for between $6 and $16 (1 hour to all day pass).

They have tons of old games, too! Go to their web site for an up to date list of games they have installed on their computers. One of my favorite old PC games is Call of Duty 2 (they have it), and back in the day (oh, maybe 2007) I used to host LAN parties. A bunch of friends (most of them dads) would bring their rigs (computers) over to my office at the end of the day and we would play computer games for 2-3 hours! We had so much fun! The two games we played were Call of Duty 2, and Battlefield 2.

Gaming has changed a lot over the years, and I haven’t had as much time to play games. In fact, I don’t even use a PC regularly any more (I bought the cool aide and use Mac’s, now). Growing up my favorite games were Sim City 2000, and Chuck Yeager’s Air Combat. I also had a Nintendo (the original!) and had a ton of games. I was super good at Mario Bros.

Growing up in St. Louis, I had a friend who always had the latest Nintendo games. He had the original Nintendo, and then the Nintendo 64, and then the Nintendo Cube (I can’t remember which came first). We would play games for hours and hours.

Anyways, that brings back so many memories of gaming. I haven’t played as much in recent years because I got married in 2010, had a baby in late 2011, and got busy with job and life. I’m thinking about ressurecting the old gaming crew with a shindig down at Howie’s Game Shack! What a fun time.
