We stayed in the Feliz family room because the kids wanted bunk beds, who wouldn’t? The rails made them safe for our five-year-olds, and the stairs to climb up were solid. In this room, your whole crew can enjoy a massive 55-inch Smart Roku HDTV, spacious vanity area, full bath, retro fridge and desk. Each room is curated for an individual stay. Our bed was a little too comfy, making it hard to get up in the morning. Bunk beds were given two thumbs up by both kids.

We were excited when we opened the drawers to the bunk bed and found games and books!

One thing I like in any overnight spot, is a separate vanity. So someone can be in the shower or using the restroom, while you can finish getting ready. Always a plus in my book.

The kids were given pages to color along with crayons by the front desk and enjoyed coloring and drawing at the desk. This was perfect for keeping kids entertained while parents were getting ready and packing up.

The Sentinel Peak room has a kitchenette if you are planning a long stay.

Heated Pool

This fully restored saltwater pool is heated! Of course we were there on a particularly cold day so we didn’t get a chance to try it out. But it was a perfect 82 degrees when we stuck our feet in.

There’s plenty of space to make a day of lounging by the pool.

Lounge and Games

From corn hole in the grass to Connect Four and Rock Em Sock Em Robots, there’s a game for everyone in the lounge. The kids were amused by the pinball machine and we spent a lot of money on the claw machine trying to win something for the kids from a local artist. You can even borrow a bike for a ride. The kids had fun exploring the games and playing in the lounge area. did I mention there is always free coffee?

Drink Local

Upon check-in you are given a poker chip. What is it for? One free drink at the bar.  The beer they serve was brewed just down the street. The wine they pour comes from AZ wine country. My husband and I took turns popping up to the bar to try some local brews after the kids went to bed and they were great.

You can check out the world’s largest oatmeal bar in the lobby, it’s complementary. Not going to lie, we tried a few combinations and it was fun! They also have a pop tart bar, which the kids thought was pretty awesome!

Barrio Books

As an independently owned bookstore located in front of Hotel McCoy, Barrio Books strives to provide boundless literary selections with a passion for curating BIPOC titles as well as many Latinx books. We loved the variety of books, as well as some of the nick-nacks from local artists available.

There are literally hundreds of murals throughout the property. The lobby gallery is adorned with pieces created by Arizona artists. We spent a long time wandering around checking out all of the art, as well as taking pictures of everything we loved.

I love this statement on the website, “True travelers are the ones who seek out culture, the people who visit a place not to leave their own footprint but to feel the heartbeat of their destination. These urban explorers want to dine with the locals, drink beer brewed in the city they visit, and take in the sites that are a bit off the traditional tourist path. Hotel McCoy travelers come from all over the world, all stages of life. Business travelers, family travelers, first-time travelers, seasoned travels. All are welcome here.”
