Gene Autry Park in Mesa is an off the road, hidden park and quite a find. Recently remodeled and upgraded with a shaded playground for all ages, lots of grass, picnic areas and plenty of room to play, it’s a great destination to check out.
Playground
The wood chip playground is great for all ages. There is a toddler and big kid structure under a giant shade. Two sings, two double swings, one tire swing and no toddler swings. The chairs you can strap yourself into are fun for a spin.
My kids called the round/triangular climbing structure a Christmas tree and had fun climbing up to the top as well as spinning around inside. The multiple slides are all fun as well as climbing ropes and a climbing wall.
Picnic
Picnic tables are located throughout the park. Shaded ramadas are available to rent here.
Park
Gene Autry Park in Mesa is a 47 acre park, and includes lighted baseball fields, lighted sand volleyball fields, shaded playground, ramadas and lots and lots of grass areas to play. Mesa Tennis Center information available here.
Baseball fields in this park include three professionally designed full size fields that were originally designed for the Anaheim Angels to use and were gifted to the city in 2006. Complex consists of three 90-foot baseball fields, four batting tunnels and an 8-pack pitching station. Outfield fences range in distance from 360 feet down the foul lines to 420 feet in center field. All three fields are lighted and have covered dugouts. There is bleacher seating behind the home-plate backstop of each field. Bleacher seating can accommodate up to 500 people total for the complex. These lighted baseball fields are avaliable by permit only, more information here.
