Gecko Climbing Gym in Phoenix offers some of the most epic rock walls we’ve seen, and is equally welcoming to beginners and pros!
We paid a visit to Gecko last week with some homeschool friends, not sure what to expect. Our two oldest kids enjoy rock climbing, and from the photos, we were unsure if it was a good option for children. We were happy to find it’s perfect! The difficulty of climbs varied, but there were plenty of beginner options, and plenty of challenging options. The employees were detailed and helpful with the instruction, and very encouraging with the kids were hesitant to try something new.
Gecko offers 30ft roped climbing walls, 15ft bouldering walls, a kids wall with a spiral slide, a small ninja course, and more. All participants have to watch an orientation video, and pass a self belay test, plus safe climbing. It’s not difficult, even our 6 year old was able to properly hook/unhook his clip. That said, parents will still need to watch their children, unless they are specifically dropping off for a class.
We highly recommend this climbing gym for children, teens, and adults of all abilities. It’s a clean facility with wonderful employees, and a great addition to the Phoenix area.
