After a major renovation in 2020, Festival Fields Park in Avondale was named Outstanding Facility of the Year by the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association. Its location on the west side of town is conveniently located just south of I-10 making it easy to access.
Splash Pad
This non-shaded splash pad was lots of fun, with a good variety of different ways to get wet! There were squirt gun-style shooters, lots of buckets for dumping on heads, sprayers to run through, and fountains that popped up from the ground. The large bucket in the middle knocked over some of the kids when it dumped out, so watch out for your littles!
Playground
This wood chip playground is shaded on the little kid’s play area which is nice for our hot days. There is a small bridge, stairs to a slide, climbing circles, and more in the shade. There is a half spider web, balls to climb, a round spinning structure to climb, tire swings, and a giant tower that we didn’t even attempt to climb yet!
This workout area is designed for ages 13 and up, but there is a note that says ages 5 to 12 can use it. This area is not currently shaded and was too hot to play on when we visited.
Picnic
There is a large shaded group ramada with lots of picnic tables directly between the splash pad and lake, with a fence stopping you from going into the lake that would be great for birthday parties. The playground is directly next to it. There were covered picnic tables throughout the park as well.
Park
Festival Fields Park in Avondale includes a splash pad, 4 softball fields, 2 little league baseball fields, multi-use fields, 4 pickleball courts, 2 basketball courts, pump track, skate park, dog park, community fishing pond, and public restrooms.
Getting There
This park is just south of I-10, with signs leading you to where everything in the park is located. Plenty of parking along the whole park, as well as a larger parking lot near the fields.
