Chandler History Museum gives families a chance to explore and experience free events! The museum hosts rotating exhibits about the history of Chandler.

One of their current exhibits is “Chandler A-Z”, which alphabetically highlights people, places, and things throughout the history of Chandler. The exhibit was very kid friendly, including a scavenger hunt of matching cards to pictures throughout the exhibit.

The game kept my kids engaged and the alphabetical organization made it easy to navigate and break the content into smaller pieces for kids to understand. It didn’t take us long to go through the exhibit, but it was definitely worth a visit, especially if you have kids who are interested in history.

The museum hosts free events for preschoolers on Wednesdays from 10:30-11:15am. They have two different types of programs: Art Tots and C-Town.

Both events are geared towards 3-5 yo and start with sensory activities on the floor so that the kids are engaged right away. My kids loved sorting vehicles by color, matching shapes on popsicle sticks, and stringing beads.

The educators start the session with a song and a story related to the theme of the day before allowing the kids to start the activity stations. Kids are able to move around to activities as quickly or as slowly as they want. They also allow the kids to revisit stations as much as they want to.

Art Tots is an event that introduces children to different art styles and concepts and then gives them the opportunity to engage in art stations. The event that we attended focused on music and art. There were instruments for the kids to play with and materials to make their own shakers. They also had a station where my 3 yo painted a guitar using paint on the strings.

C-Town is an event that compares every day items to how they were used in the past. The event we attended focused on the moon landing and space exploration. Our favore stations were designing an astronaut helmet and making the phases of the moon with Oreos, but we also enjoyed playing with a pretend control panel.

Chandler History Museum is located at 300 S. Chandler Village Drive, Chandler, AZ 85226. The museum is free to enter and their events are free but require prior reservations, as space is limited. The schedule and link for registration can be found here.
