Arizona State University Athletics

Spectator sports are always a fun family activity that can be enjoyed by kids of all ages. But there’s no need to restrict the sporting events your family attends to the old standbys of football and baseball. Thanks to the diversity of college athletics, there are sports of all sorts to watch—and not only are the Arizona State Sun Devils a fine athletic program, but they have some excellent home stadiums as well.

The Wells Fargo Arena is a hub of Sun Devils’ activity. This is where the men’s and women’s basketball games take place, in addition to gymnastics, volleyball and wrestling matches as well. The indoor stadium can seat a total of 10,754 spectators and has a center-hung video scoreboard that is considered one of the best in college athletics. The men’s basketball team in particular is very good, appearing in the NCAA Championship thirteen times over the years and winning eight conference championships. Whether you’d rather see skillful dribbling, rapid volleys, difficult holds or mid-air flips, the Wells Fargo Arena is the place for it.

Sun Devils soccer takes place in the fittingly-named Sun Devil Soccer Stadium, where you can watch the women’s soccer team in the comfort of one of the 1,051 individual chair-backed bleacher seats just 20 feet from the sidelines. If track and field is the sport you prefer the Sun Angel Stadium is the place to be, where you’ll feel like you’re sitting on a cloud in sedentary observation as the athletes run around and around the Joe Stelleh Track. (And if you and the kids enjoy getting up early and running together, the track, made from the same squishy material as the track at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, is open to the public every morning from 6 am to 7 am).

You can get admission to any women’s basketball, gymnastics, volleyball, wrestling, soccer, or track and field match with a Pogo Pass, along with admission to many other venues (use the promo code AZPLACES at checkout to get 60% off!).
