Apache Park in Scottsdale, AZ is tucked back in a south Scottsdale neighborhood and is quiet, spacious, and lots of fun. We particularly enjoyed that there was lots of shade.
Playground
This sand playground is covered by a big shade, which is great in the heat of Arizona days. There is a play structure that has slides, stairs for climbing, a bridge, an animal tic-tac-toe, and most important to my son, a curly q slide! There are two toddler swings and two big kid swings, as well as lots of sand. This would be a great area for building sandcastles or sand toys on a cool day in the sun.
Picnic
Two drop-in ramadas are available for reservations. There is one next to the playground and one that is closer to the fields. There are also a couple of picnic benches that are shaded by trees. We took a blanket and had a picnic in the grass by a shaded tree.
