Flashback to 1947, when Arizona, was given the single area code 602. For the next 48 years, 602 was the Arizona area code, until 520 arrived and divided Metro Phoenix (602) and the rest of the state. Arizona now boasts five area codes: 602, 520, 480, 623, and 928.
